An introduction to the crucial decisions in life

A few weeks ago I asked readers what one problem they would like solved.


When you reach a fork in the road, how do we know the decisions are right? When all is lost how do we trust our hearts to make the right choices?

  1. Use all you have learnt about your skills, interests and values together with the information you have gathered about the world of work to create your plan.
  2. Depending upon the type of choice it is such as a lifestyle decision , if we don't have a multitude of possible options, we seem to become anxious and confused. This is over-analysis in action.
  3. What is important to me? For example, you might multiply family decisions by X, work decisions by Y, and school choices high school subjects, college major and location, grad school or not by a factor of Z.

Also should we be ruled by our hearts or our heads? For heart led people, this can sometimes be detrimental as we need to listen to the logic sometimes.

Choices in Life

Complex stuff…would love your wise words on this. The first is this: The Dalai Lama once said: So start by being open to alternative outcomes.

Avoid Over-thinking I think secondly, over-thinking is one to avoid when decision-making.

  1. Many people think they should have a say in what career you choose—your parents, your friends, your significant other.
  2. What can I do about it? Go with the flow.
  3. For heart led people, this can sometimes be detrimental as we need to listen to the logic sometimes. At the end of this step you will have narrowed down your options and have more of an idea of what you need to do next to help you achieve your goals.

In my opinion, balance is key. Would this be a wise decision?

I would say not. That is the million dollar question. Remember that failure is a pre-requisite for success.

How to Make the Right Choices in Life

If the voice inside your head is starting to repeat its-self, switch it off! This is over-analysis in action.
